This year Sibina Koumbarou, a student from the Bulgarin school in Nicosia, was awarded again in the literary contest "Stefan Gechev". Her essay received second place. She received her award on the 29th of July in Sofia during a celebration by the vice president of Bulgaria Angel Marin.

We are looking forward to her next award!

Да се завърнеш в бащината къща...

Тън... тън ...тън..
Чу се мелодийката, която така дълго мечтаех да чуя.
Моля пътниците на авиокомпания Cyprus Аir Lines с полет 815 Ларнака - Бургас, да се явят на изходa за излитане . Благодаря.

След секунди гласът каза същите неща, но на английски, а после и на гръцки. Приятно е да знаеш три езика, но още по-приятна е мисълта, че само след няколко часа ще вдишам дълбоко българския въздух и ще прегърна всички онези, които ме чакат там.
Бързи спомени ме връхлитат, а чувствата ми бушуват и искат да излязат наяве, но аз не ги оставям. Сред тях има много и различни. Някои са тъжни, а други весели. Те са пътят ми към миналото и се завръщат там, откъдето започнах.

Три години по-рано.
Из дневника ми

Утре е много важен ден за мен. Това изминало лято беше невероятно! Обиколихме цял Кипър и видяхме, и опитахме всичко интересно! Със сестра ми не се карахме толкова, колкото обикновено, а се веселихме много! И макар че очаквахме да се завърнем в България и да започнем обикновения си живот там, вчера се взе изненадващото решение да останем да живеем в Кипър. Това не е голям проблем, тъй като Кипър не е чуждо място за нас. Баща ми работи тук, а и идваме всяко лято на почивка. Тука са и кипърските ми баба, леля, чичо и така нататък. С братовчедка ми се разбираме чудесно! Като малка даже не знаех езика въобще, но общувахме със знаци и пак си играехме.
Но има един голям проблем...
Докато сестра ми се връща в България да учи ( понеже е в гимназия и не може да прекъсне ей така учението си), аз оставам тук. В съвсем ново училище и с гръцки, на който мога да кажа само името си. Не знам как ще се справя, а и хич не ми се ходи пак на училище. Утре ще отидем да ме запишат и ще се видя с моите нови съученици. Тази мисъл всеки път ме кара да изтръпвам, тъй като съм много срамежлива, а и не знам езика! Четвърти клас все пак не е лесна работа... Ще ми липсва сестра ми. И блазе и, че се връща обратно в къщи.

Като си седя така на летището и си мисля за преживяното от мен, осъзнавам, че животът е пълен с изненади! Никога не знаеш какво ще те сполети и какви ще са резултатите от действията ти. Е, оказа се, че в моя клас имаше едно българско емигрантче и то много ми помогна, а после станахме и близки. След време нещата между нас много се промениха..., но няма да ви тормозя с тази скучна история.

Мисленето ме разсейва и не чувствам болката в ръката си, докато влача с огромна досада тежкия куфар. Казвам едно бързо и нехайно „чао" на баща ми, защото доста закъсняхме(както винаги). Баща ми ме прегръща, но аз вече съм напуснала Кипър. Провлачваме се с отегчение през всичките проверки и се тръшкаме на столчетата за чакане.

България е много важно място за мен. Там съм родена, там съм отраснала и някак винаги съм там - независимо къде съм. Сигурна съм, че където и да живея, винаги ще се връщам в България.

Същата година.
Из дневника ми.
Много ми липсва България!!! Българското лято е така далеко. Няма ги приятелите и се чувствам самотна... А и откакто съм в Английско училище е по-зле... Уж се сближих с американчетата,но съм извън историята на живота им - те са заедно от първи клас. Стоя до тях, но не съм с тях, чувствам се толкова различна, като грозното пате от онази приказка, но съвсем не се надявам да стана лебед.

Интернет е моето спасение. Там се чувствам себе си. Абе въобще... просто искам да се върна у дома...Да, аз и в мислите си се завръщам у дома, но тези мисли винаги са малко тъжни... Когато мисля за България и за моите приятели и роднини там, винаги ми става болно, че не мога да се върна ,вече наистина е почти невъзможно.

Веднъж в училището ни организираха ден на спорта и отидохме на стадиона. Трябваше да бягаме изключително дълго разстояние и то без да сме тренирани. По‐малките от 7. клас не издържаха на натоварването и когато моята съученичка приседна на земята от изтощение и болка, по-голямата и сестра, също така грижовна като моята, отиде да я успокоява и прегръща. Стана ми така мъчно за Ади и за дните с нея в България. Веднага си спомних как ме развеселяваше, когато падах на земята като малка. Не баща ми, не майка ми, а сестра ми ме хващаше за ръце и... работеше с нейната „магическа техника на успокоението". След това поредица от спомени... боричкахме се на леглото, танцувахме пред камерата, пеехме....

България е нещо, което е в теб и е свързано с твоите липсващи близки.

Всяко лято, когато се връщам в българския ми дом, винаги съм изпълнена с щастие, но едновременно и с тъга, защото знам какво ме очаква в края на лятото.
Всяка есен , когато се завръщам в Кипър, съм депресирана и изпълнена с какви ли не неприятни мисли. Постоянно седя пред телевизора, за да слушам българска реч, дано се заблудя и забравя къде съм. Но не мога. Не мога да се заблудя, защото всичко е толкова различно. Времето е различно. Въздухът е различен. Хората са различни. Водата, къщата, дърветата, улиците... всичко! Дори небето е различно!

Тън тън тън ,пак се чу тази весела за мен мелодийка.
Моля пътниците с полет 815 Ларнака - Бургас да се явят на изходите за излитане . Благодаря.

Настанихме се удобно на седалките си. Аз с една широка усмивка на лицето, която не мога да изтрия, а майка потънала в мисли, най-вероятно и те за България. Така и моите мисли пак отплаваха.

Да се завърна в бащиния ми дом... Ако под бащин дом се разбира роден дом, значи той се намира далеко , далеко от Кипър, в България. Но ако бащин дом означава къщата на баща ми, то значи бащиният ми дом е тук в Кипър.

Да приемем, че бащиният дом е родният дом.
Да се завърна и остана у дома ,ще е велико! Ще е чудесно! Да си върна обратно онези чудесни времена, които прекарвахме по улиците на топлия Бургас. Нощните разходки в морската градина. Утрините край морето. И нашето хоби със сестра ми. Дългите фото-сесии: морето и ние, бургаските улици и ние, нашият дом и ние в него! Смехът ни в Бургас. Аз да снимам, тя да е снимана. Тя е майсторът, нейните снимки са превъзходни.

Веднъж решихме да направим нещата малко по‐интересни на връщане от плажа. Тя беше някаква звезда, а аз папарак, който я следи. И първо се правеше, че не ме забелязва, но когато уж ме забеляза, започна веселата част. Дадох и слънчевите си очила и по-нататък сигурно се сещате... пак веселба. Накрая на компютъра събрах всички снимки и направих нещо като предаване за нея, като изненада.... със заглавие „Новата звезда". Беше много забавно.

Тръскането ме връща на земята. Каква земя, самолетът бучи, набира скорост и....
Не се бях замисляла всъщност колко бързо се движи един самолет във въздуха... чак сега усетих мощността на тази машина.
Спомени...
Спомням си, когато отидохме на Рила! Бяхме всички вкупом - аз, майка, сестра ми, леля ми и братовчедка ми ! Само жени. Най-забавното беше в общата стая! Понеже беше прекалено късно за резервация на хубава стая и си взехме обща, с 12 легла. Имаше едно семейство и някакви други хора. И ставаха какви ли не неща! Не може да се обясни.. трябва да го видите със собствените си очи.

Сутрин беше най-зле. Докато ние с Дени и Ади бяхме сънливи, другите шумно се оправяха. А вечер, когато искахме да спим, трябваше да понасяме пискливия глас на една учителка.

Преди обяд вървяхме по баирите като малки козички, а следобед, когато ставаше студено, се прибирахме в хижата, обличахме се хубаво и пак излизахме и сядахме около езерото ( което всъщност беше като блато).Странно наистина - колко обикновено(чоплиш слънчоглед и си приказваш за нещо смешно), а колко хубаво ми е да си го спомням. Най-обичам, когато се връщам към смешните моменти от миналото.

В самолета
Много се уморих... мисля да поспа малко.

Сънища, сънища. Идват от луната и летят към земята. Блестят те като сребърни звезди в черното, нощно море.
Кацнахме на летището и си взехме багажите. Тръгнахме нетърпеливо към първото такси и след минути стигаме до нашия блок. Изведнъж ми стана странно. Странно чувство ровеше в стомаха ми. Погледнах към прозореца, който така добре познавам. Лампата светеше. Качихме се по тъмните стълбите на първия етаж и почукахме леко на вратата. Баба ми отвори... Хвърлих се да я прегръщам силно и ...се събудих .

Все още съм в самолета и мисля, че осъзнах нещичко малко и неважно.
Всички тези безсмислени и несвързани истории, целият този смях, за който писах, дето така и не успях да го опиша, всичко това, което ви е отегчило... това е, което изоставих и това е, към което се връщам. Това е, каквото очаквам да правя, щом се върна.
Ето го моето завръщане към мечтите, спомените, близките и към мен самата .А какво е Родината?

Our unforgettable meeting with the writer Georgi Konstantinov on the 24th of May

This year's 24 of May celebration will remain forever in the hearts of Bulgarian students who live on the island of love - Cyprus.

The Bulgarian writer Georgi Konstantinov met children and their parents form the Bulgarian schools in Nicosia, Larnaca, Paphos and Paralimni and the Bulgarian community in Cyprus. During the celebration a Bulgarian cultural space was created where Bulgarian language, dances and spirit could be heard, enjoyed and felt. Omilos Vasilidja's performance made possible an intercultural dialogue in the crowded hall where in an atmoshpere of tolerance through children's performances a cultural bridge was created which helped for exchanging cultural traditions and values. In moments like these cultural consciousness is being created.

We are sure that the author enjoyed the celebration as well. Students from the Bulgarian school in Nicosia sang some of his songs, recited poems and danced.

Easter Celebrations

Students from the Bulgarian school in Nicosia painted eggs in the school's workshop. Although they are far from Bulgaria, they need their motherland's traditions and culture. The school's workshop is part of the "Bulgaria unites us" project and its main purpose is to strengthen children's Bulgarian identity. Children are taught to appreciate our cultural heritage - celebrations, customs and traditions, values.

This project provides educational environment where cultural understanding is taught. Students learn how to share values, cultures and identities. In that way we bring closer the two cultures we live in. We love what is ours but also respect others' understandings.

We create cultural bridges between the two countries we are in touch with - Bulgaria and Cyprus.

Grandma Marta came to the Bulgarian school

This year students, their parents and guests gathered together on the first day of March to make some 'martenici' and learn more about this very unique Bulgarian tradition.

Every year in Bulgaria streets are full of stands selling 'martenici'. This is one of the most colorful traditions. Martenici are made of white and red threads. The white color symbolizes long life and purity and the red color - health and strengh. They can be bracelets, necklaces, brooches. The tradition says to wear them until you see a stork.

Students in the school enjoyed this tradition a lot and made beautiful martenici with the help of three skilful women - Doshka Kancheva, Tatyana Savova and Lachista Ivanova.

Students did not only enjoy the making of wonderful martenici but also learnt a lot about the origin, meaning and symbols of this tradition.

"Happy Grandma Marta's Day!" is what we all wish each other on the first day of March.

Every Bulgarian knows that this is the day of the Slavonic Alphabet, Bulgarian Enlightenment and Culture. Children from the school, their parents, teachers and guests gathered together to celebrate in the park "Atalasa" in Nicosia.

During the days dedicated to the International Children's Day in Cyprus, the School's dancers performed traditional Bulgarian dances at the celebrations of three cities on the island.

On the first day the dancers performed in Nicosia in Strovolos park.

Children who are not attending the School are more than welcomed! Santa will be visiting with small gifts for all children but don't forget to prepare a present for your child. Wrap it, write the child's name on it and bring it to the celebration.

In December 2010 the Bulgarian School in Nicosia joined the European Consortium for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Languages (ECL-Consortium).

The School is co-ordinated by the International ECL Exam Center and now prepares learners for the ECL exam and, as an ECL Exam Center, administers tests in Bulgarian.

The Bulgarian Cultural Center will participate in the 18th International Education Fair in Cyprus which will take place from the 25th to the 27th of February, 2011.

If you are interested in learning the Bulgarian language, visit us at Stand 468 where you can speak with one of our representatives about learning Bulgarian as a foreign language оr learning Bulgarian as native speaker.

The Center joined the European Consortium for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Languages (ECL-Consortium) and prepares learners for the ECL exam in Bulgarian and, as an ECL Exam Center, administers tests in Bulgarian and issues recognized in Europe certificates.

The Center organizes courses suitable for:
• students from Cypriot high-schools planning on studying in a Bulgarian university

• people who intend to stay in Bulgaria temporarily or permanently, or are interested in Bulgarian language and culture.

Students (age 5-18) who are native Bulgarian speakers are welcomed to join the Bulgarian School in Nicosia which follows curriculums and programs approved by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education. Certificates issued by the School hold the seal of the Republic of Bulgaria and are signed by the Bulgarian ambassador in Cyprus. The certificates are recognized in Bulgaria and allow students to continue their education there without holding exams in Bulgarian.

Working hours: Friday: 08:30 - 13:00 and 17:00 - 21:00

Saturday and Sunday:: 16:00 - 21:00
